Terms & conditions
The terms on which we sell our everlasting botanicals. Plain-language, consumer-friendly, and built for shipping across Europe.
Last updated 3 September 2026
These terms and conditions apply to every offer we make and to every distance contract and order between House of Papaver and a consumer. Before a distance contract is concluded, the text of these terms is made available to you in a way you can save. Written in plain language and consumer-friendly, they never limit the statutory rights you have under Dutch and EU law.
Definitions
- Consumer — a natural person who is not acting for purposes relating to their trade, business or profession, and who enters into a distance contract with us.
- Trader — House of Papaver (a trade name of De Digitale Tafel), the seller.
- Distance contract — a contract concluded without you and us being physically together, using one or more means of distance communication (our website).
- Cooling-off period — the period within which you may exercise your right of withdrawal.
- Right of withdrawal — your right to cancel the distance contract within the cooling-off period, without giving a reason.
- Model withdrawal form — the standard form at the end of these terms that you may use to exercise your right of withdrawal.
- Day — a calendar day.
1. Identity of the trader
House of Papaver, a trade name of De Digitale Tafel.
Alkmaarseweg 222a, 1944 DV Beverwijk, the Netherlands (showroom visits by appointment only).
Email: info@houseofpapaver.com · KvK 88142477 · VAT NL004549670B41.
2. Applicability
These terms apply to every offer at houseofpapaver.com and to every distance contract that results from it. If any provision is or becomes void or voidable, the remaining provisions stay in full force, and we will replace the affected provision with one that matches its intent as closely as possible. Situations not covered by these terms are assessed in their spirit.
3. Our products
We sell dried poppies, flowers, grasses and related botanical objects and accessories. All botanicals are dried and strictly decorative — they are not food and are not for consumption. Because they are natural, dried materials, slight variation in size, colour and form between pieces is normal and is not a defect. Keep them away from small children and pets, who might mistake them for food.
4. The offer
Every offer is without obligation and contains a complete and accurate description of the product, detailed enough for you to assess it properly. Product images are a truthful representation, but we cannot guarantee that displayed colours exactly match the real product. Obvious mistakes or errors in an offer do not bind us. If an offer has a limited period of validity or is subject to conditions, we state this explicitly.
5. The contract
The contract is formed when you accept our offer and meet the conditions attached to it. When you accept electronically, we confirm receipt of your acceptance without delay by email; until we have confirmed it, you may dissolve the contract. Every contract is entered into subject to sufficient availability of the products. If we cannot fulfil an order, we will let you know and refund any payment in full.
6. Right of withdrawal
As a consumer you may withdraw from the contract within 14 days of receiving your order (or the last item of your order), without giving a reason. During the cooling-off period you will handle the product and its packaging with care, and only unpack or use it as far as needed to assess whether you wish to keep it.
To exercise the right, notify us within those 14 days — using the model withdrawal form below or another clear statement — at info@houseofpapaver.com. You then return the goods within 14 days of that notice, with all accessories supplied and, where reasonably possible, in their original condition and packaging, following our instructions. The burden of proving that you returned the goods in time is on you (for example, a proof of postage).
7. Costs in the event of withdrawal
The cost of returning the goods is borne by you, the customer. If you have already paid, we refund the full amount — including the standard (cheapest) outbound delivery cost — as soon as possible and within 14 days of your withdrawal, provided we have received the goods back or you have supplied conclusive proof of full return. We refund using the same payment method you used, unless you expressly agree otherwise. You are liable for any reduction in the value of the goods caused by handling beyond what was needed to assess them.
8. When the right of withdrawal does not apply
The right of withdrawal does not apply to products that are made or personalised to your specification, or that are clearly personal in nature. Our standard, unpersonalised botanicals can be returned as described above. Any exclusion is stated clearly in the offer, before the contract is concluded.
9. Prices
Prices are shown in euro (€) and include VAT where applicable. Shipping costs are shown separately before you complete your order. Prices are not increased during the validity period of an offer, except for changes resulting from changes in VAT rates. A price change never affects an order already confirmed.
10. Conformity & warranty
Your order will conform to the contract, to the specifications in the offer, and to the reasonable expectations you may have of a dried, decorative botanical product. Your statutory consumer rights under Dutch and EU law — including the legal guarantee of conformity — always apply, in addition to these terms.
11. Delivery & performance
We take the greatest possible care when receiving and fulfilling orders. We deliver to the address you have given us. Orders are dispatched within 2–4 business days and we aim to deliver within 30 days at the latest; delivery times and shipping rates are set out on our Shipping & returns page. The risk of damage or loss passes to you at the moment of delivery. If an ordered product is unavailable, we notify you and refund any payment as soon as possible.
12. Payment
Payment is handled securely through our payment provider Mollie, which supports methods such as iDEAL, credit card and others shown at checkout. Payment is due when you place your order. We do not store your full payment details. You must report any inaccuracy in payment details provided to us without delay.
13. Complaints procedure
Not happy with something? Please email info@houseofpapaver.com with a full, clear description within a reasonable time of discovering the problem. We reply within 14 days of receiving your complaint; if it needs more time to resolve, we acknowledge it within that period and tell you when you can expect a full answer. If anything arrives damaged, see “Damaged in transit” on our Shipping & returns page.
14. Disputes & applicable law
Dutch law applies to these terms and to any contract between you and us. If we cannot resolve a complaint together, you may bring the matter before the competent Dutch court. Your statutory consumer rights are unaffected.
15. Additional provisions
Any additional or differing provisions will not be to your disadvantage as a consumer and will be recorded in a way you can save on a durable medium.
